BikePGH, a nonprofit bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization, is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to lead a team in implementing and sustaining a robust and diverse portfolio of revenue streams that support BikePGH’s operations and programming. As a key member of the leadership team, this position will collaborate with all Directors and contracted CFO to make key management decisions for the organization.
The ideal candidate will be seasoned in leading a team while overseeing the goals and performance of two direct reports, creating and implementing fundraising strategies, and meeting annual and multi-year organizational revenue goals.

Title: Development Director
Position: Full-time, Exempt
Target Start: December 2024 - January 2025
Salary: $80,000-$95,000 annually depending upon experience, with an opportunity to receive a bonus for exceeding revenue goals.

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop fundraising strategies and communications in collaboration with the Executive Director, relevant staff, and the board fundraising committee.
Design and lead effective fundraising campaigns
Cultivate and help Executive Director sustain relationships with existing and potential funders
Oversee all fundraising activities including grants, corporate giving, sponsorships, individual giving, and our annual appeal.
Routinely monitor, analyze and effectively communicate performance of efforts towards short- and long-term fundraising goals
Collaborate with the Events Director on revenue-generating events and with the Communications and Marketing Manager to build out communications messaging and timelines.
Further develop the culture of philanthropy at the board and staff level
Create and manage the departmental budget
Research new prospects for all revenue streams
Oversee gift recognition and donation tracking and reporting protocols (acknowledgements, communication strategy, grant reports, etc)
Manage a team of two FTE and one PT outside consultant
Institutional Funding - Foundations and Government
Secure grants from private, public and corporate foundation sources locally, statewide and nationally.
Collaborate with grant writer and relevant staff to provide input on program grant proposals and reports
Oversee execution of funding deliverables, reports, and budgets.
Collaborate with ED to maintain and build strong relationships with foundation staff and program officers.
Develop and track grant proposals and reports for all institutional funders
Corporate
Cultivate new and leverage existing relationships to secure corporate sponsorships for programs and events such as PedalPGH and OpenStreetsPGH.
Supervise the Business Relationship Manager in preparing sponsorship pipelines, proposals, solicitations and invoicing for event and organizational sponsorship.
Collaborate with relevant staff on event and organization sponsorship fulfillment.
Conduct research on prospective and existing sponsors and craft sponsorship proposals.
Negotiate terms for existing and new media sponsorships for organizations' largest events, OpenStreetsPGH and PedalPGH.
Individual Donor and Membership Strategy
Evaluate and implement BikePGH’s donor/membership strategy.
Direct and coordinate all aspects of annual and sustaining donor fundraising
Oversee all print and digital donation campaigns, including messaging and imagery for the annual end-of-year giving campaign, Giving Tuesday, and more.
Utilize donor/member database and develop individual prospect pipelines through research and analysis.
Develop relationships with and solicit donor prospect lists in order to increase mid level donor engagement.
Grow Lifetime Membership and mid-level donor program
Implement a strategy for increasing employer matches and donor-advised funds.
Direct team to create engaging membership messaging to retain current members and attract new members.
Create and implement a comprehensive plan to grow donors/membership
Move donor-members up the ladder of engagement.
Collaborate with relevant staff to host BikePGH’s Annual Members Meeting.
Leverage Advocacy, Education and Community program wins for development.
Staff Supervision
Lead, coach, and manage the Membership & Donor Manager and Business Relationship Manager.
Oversee goals, priorities, and capacity of two direct reports.
Direct work product of grants consultant.
Support direct reports to meet or exceed their revenue goals through a clear strategy for generating revenue.
Hold one-on-one meetings and team meetings, quarterly work plan check-ins, and participate in annual goal setting with their team.
Other
Collaborate with Business Relationship Manager to hone BikePGH’s bike rack sales program that generates revenue via bike rack sales.
Staff the board fundraising committee meetings and collaborate with them and Executive Director on board development related projects.
Knowledge & Experience:
At least 7 years experience in fundraising with a proven track record of success.
Excellent at prospecting and securing multiple funding and revenue sources such as foundations, corporations, individuals and from the public sector
Excellent communication skills across multiple disciplines and platforms, including verbal, written and public speaking.
Proven track record of success as a key member of management, including supervising direct reports.
Proven organizational and project management/project tracking skills.
Self-directed, flexible with strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small, non-profit environment.
Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets (Word/Excel, Docs/Sheets) CRM database management (EveryAction, Salesforce, Blackbaud etc), online systems for donations, donor event management, and donor communications.
