eiNetwork is seeking a Network Architect to work as part of our collaborative team to design, implement, and operate network services for Allegheny County public libraries. We are a non-profit organization providing technology services to public libraries. Our enterprise-class technology services include a wide area network that is designed for reliability, serviceability, performance, and responsiveness. Network services include complex local and wide area networks, wired and wireless services, and internet services (including Internet2) for both library staff and public access.
Works closely with various stakeholders including customers, co-workers, and outside resources to analyze, define and implement network technologies to enhance library services.
Presents network plans and designs to stakeholders at all levels and effectively communicates overall rationale that benefits library service and organizational goals.
Designs secure, flexible, and serviceable network systems to support library needs. Includes LAN and WAN routing and switching design, configuration, and deployment. Also includes firewall, VPN, and wireless technologies.
Selects, configures, and implements various network technology components to support services.
Prepares network project task plans and resource estimates. Develops procedures including technical design packages and site installation procedures.
Hands on engineering work to install, configure and manage network infrastructure devices including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless technologies, SSL, VPN, and cloud-based solutions. Must be able to respond, troubleshoot, and identify root cause and remediate issues in a complete, documented, and timely manner.
Monitors existing network services to proactively identify potential problems or issues. Troubleshoots problems and designs solutions for specific user requests. Upgrades existing network components as required.
Develops and maintains project and support documentation for both technical and user audiences.
Automate tasks to monitor their effectiveness, reliability, and serviceability.
Develops and utilizes appropriate change control processes and communications.
Develops RFPs for external services and/or technologies, and coordinates design and implementation

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Four to five years recent experience in networking field including project management experience.
Highly technical and able to craft solutions. Hands-on ability in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, network monitoring tools, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, cloud-based environments, etc.
Experience with networking protocols to include advanced routing (BGP, OSPF) and switching (Cisco proprietary protocols and network standard protocols including spanning-tree, trucking protocol, MPLS).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical individuals.
Strong time management skills. Ability to plan and manage multiple projects and assignments concurrently and effectively.
